Group Projects

Throughout college and highschool, I have always thought that the diversity in each of my classes has been quite impressive. Now I find myself over 4,000 miles away from home and the diversity is even greater.

One of the most exciting things for me is meeting individuals from all over the world.

In my Britain and Africa class, we were assigned a group project where we must present an write a paper as a group. There are four of us, all of which come from different places. One from Australia, one from Sweden, one from Great Britain, and me from the United States.

We all grew up learning different strategies and techniques on group projects or just school in general. At first, I thought that we all had different views on these strategies and techniques and that this would cause us to clash when disscussing the layout of our project.

Our first group meeting was nothing like I had expected. We all listened to eachother and took helpful tips from eachother.

The beauty of having DIVERSITY is getting to know everything there is to know about the home country of the different individuals in your group and being able to take tips from eachother and use them in our academic careers.

I have learned so much from individuals who are from other countries. Studying abroad offers the opportunity to learn about other cultures and really understand where people come from.

The most important thing when studying abroad is to have an open mind. We all come from different places and backgrounds but when we come together and share our experiences with eachother and what we have learned is absolutely amazing. Because of this exeprience, we will become more knowledgable.

There is something so perplexing about individuals coming together from all over the world and working together and teaching each other new things while creating friends of a life time.
